SYK Event Summary
For "Reasons Found In Promises"
Hello all! Today is a sales break down kind of day dedicated to the numberphiles who wanted to see my full 1-month report a while back.
I will be going over the numbers, the highlights, the expectations and future steps.
If you have yet to pick up my book “Reasons Found In Promises” during the SYK event, pick it up now on KU or buy the ebook or paperback versions here:
Big Thanks
Before going too far into the break down I wanted to give a huge shout out to Eve Ciric, a fellow author and friend. She was the one who recommended me the event, and has also been an incredible supporter. Check out her link tree to find socials and her incredible Mafia Romances.

I also wanted to give a shout out to the Dark Romance team, who made this event possible. You can find their instagram which they use to help and promote various indie authors here:

The Highlights
The first and most amazing thing that happened is there is now almost 2.5K people that have Reasons Found In Promises in their Kindle!
This may seem like a small number in the grand scheme of things, but to me that is 2.4K people that have spotted my book out of 450+ and decided it was worth giving a shot! Which means the absolute world.
Another highlight was that during the free period “Reasons Found In Promises” Hit top 5 Free in Magic Romance and Top 10 in Romantic Fantasy. The biggest win about this, is actually not the ranking itself but how well it does for my general algorithm.
The Amazon algorithm is a complicated thing that has about as much transparency as the typical shadow daddy has about their emotions. However, the most basic idea is: clicks to purchases conversion combined with the profile Amazon has for the consumers create a target that the algorithm will try to hit. With more data, it is able to more accurately predict which consumers in their system are more likely to buy a certain product, and then use that information to place adds of your product while they are shopping.
With this large influx of purchases and clicks, this in theory should have primed my algorithm to be more easily reachable to all readers on Amazon.
The Short Term Results
The SYK even has already resulted in one more 4 star rating on the book! Which means someone binge read it in the last few days and enjoyed it enough to leave a rating on both Amazon and Goodreads. Which is amazing! I am also seeing a small uptick in KENP reads, likely due to better algorithm visibility.
My Next Steps
I am trying out an add campaign. Currently the algorithm is “Hot” meaning my book just got a LOT of eyeballs from potential readers of the genre. Free, yes, making it a slightly different demographic but still people who saw the marketing package (The cover, the blurb, the sample) and chose to purchase.
So, I have two very simple test campaigns. One in the US and another in the UK since those were my top two regions. Both with the following settings:
Daily budget 5 dollars
Default bid .45 cents
Running until Feb 22nd
Dynamic bids down
I will be checking this every 24-48 hours to see how its doing and adjust numbers from there.
My Hopes
My biggest hope for this event is that it will turn into ratings and reviews. I am so grateful for everything single one I have now, especially the people who left amazing reviews. More would allow the rating to stabilize a bit, and not be as impacted by the few that seem like the book was not to their taste. Since the first one was a 4, I’m hoping more of those are too come!
I am also hoping for some sales conversion with the adds. I am already seeing some KENP reads, but perhaps more or even some actual buys would be great to see. This is part of the reason as to why I’m running a small add campaign.
Upcoming Posts and Other Updates
Next week I will be talking about Cliff Handers, if they are effective, and how readers and writers perceive them.
I am also still pushing to finish “Soultrapped” soon! I am nearing 75k and the smooth sailing “fill in” stage of drafting, so I’m really hoping that I can do that for you guys!
Thank you all again, and see you guys next week!
